The data analysis study was a statistical examination (via superposed epoch analyses) of a solar cycle's worth of storm data. Solar wind data, geophysical indices, and geosynchronous plasma data were collected for every time period with Dst -50 nT from 1989 through 2002, and the storm list now exceeds 400 entries.

Apr 25, 2016 · Students entering the Ocean Sciences Ph.D. program with a Masters degree from the Ocean Sciences program are encouraged to take their qualifying exam during the Spring quarter of their second year. Students must be registered the quarter they take the exam. The qualifying exam will consist of a written thesis proposal and an oral exam.
Additional details on the qualifying examination will be provided by the graduate adviser. To meet graduation requirements, students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, excluding dissertation credits, and must not obtain a grade of C or lower in more than two required core courses.
